11u and 13u play in CT Sportsplex "Mid Season Swing" Tournament
The 13u Knights went 3-1 on the weekend, losing in the semifinals to eventual winners, the Hartford Titans.
Knights started of Saturday morning with a 11-4 win over Ct Grind Navy. Brennan Staubly and Christian Watson pitched the first game doing a good job of throwing strikes and making Navy earn everything. Hitting was led by Staubly, Watson, Berean, Izzy Irrizary, and Ryan Santopietro, who all recorded multiple hits.
In the second game, Jacob Degumbia got the start against Gators, Knights fell into an early hole 3-0, but Degumbia recovered and pitched solid before giving way to Berean who would go 4 innings and only give up one run. Knights tied the score 3-3 and going into the last inning. Adam Wright beat out a infield hit with great hustle, followed by 2, 10 pitch at bats, and a string of hits to put the Knights up 6-3. Gators would score a run in the bottom half, with score 6-4 and bases loaded Berean struck out their 4 hitter looking to end the game and give Knights a sure spot in winners Bracket.
Knights would match up against Grand Navy again on Day 2, and roll by with a 15-8 win after a surplus of hits from the entire team.
Knights would then face off against Hartford Titans in the Semi Final. Knights battled and game was tied 1-1 into the fourth before the Titian’s would take advantage of a short pitching staffed Knights team. Final 9-1.
John Varrone's 11u Knights went 2-2 and also losing in the semi finals to the CT Mustangs.
12u East Shore League Play
Mike Church's 12u Knights beat the North Haven Indians 13-5 on Friday with a sound pitching performance form Dave Roberts highlighted by a 3 run blast from Kyle Wilson.
The Knights took a rain shortened DH by beating the hard throwing starter from the Boys of Summer in game 1. Preston Guarda hit 2 home runs, a double and had 5 RBI in game 1. Gavin Carrubba went-back to-back with Guarda with a towering blast to left field.
The Knights beat the CT Blue Jays 11-1 in a the second game before rain halted play. Nick Kleinschmidt picked up the win.
